OUTCOMES

The course covers the activities in each of the 5 processes of Project Management(PM), namely Initialising, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing. Participants will learn how to:

1. Clearly define scope, and manage changes to it
2. Develop a realistic schedule which meets the project owners constraints
3. Prepare a plan, its purpose and why it is more than just a schedule
4. Identify the project’s quality objectives and implement appropriate controls to ensure they are achieved
5. Develop status reports which reflect reality
6. Identify and continually manage risks which could de-rail your project
7. Manage stakeholders to ensure they remain committed and involved for the project
8. Control external groups on which the project is dependent
9. Ensure you obtain the appropriate resources for the project which will raise confidence in achieving the goals
10. Build effective teams which are committed to the project goals
11. Evaluate performance of the team
12. Estimate and control project budgets.

As well as providing a sound grounding in Project Management principles the course encourages the participants to consider how effective Project Managers behave and to adopt these models on their projects.

ASSESSMENT

Certificate of Attainment

The course incorporates a number of optional assessment tasks for attendees and those who successfully complete these tasks will receive a ‘statement of attainment’.

'Project management - the Complete Guide' also satisfies the training requirements for the PMP (Project Management Professional) qualification, generally favoured by service-based industries. Advice on this qualification is given at the end of the course.

After attending ‘Project management – the Complete Guide’ participants may pursue an Australian Qualifications Framework(AQF) accredited Diploma in Project Management subject to meeting recognition of prior learning requirements and completing a portfolio of evidence from their workplace projects. They may also consider a professional accreditation from the AIPM (Australian Institute of Project Management) (generally more common in traditional project management industries construction, engineering, etc) IF:

• They meet similar recognition of prior learning requirements using workplace projects (see AIPM for details)
• And they satisfy additional formal assessment requirements through AIPM (additional certification costs apply, see AIPM for details).

Our presenters are registered assessors and can provide advice on the choice of assessment method at the end of the course.
